Zach Werenski Wins Norris Trophy as NHL’s Top Defenseman

Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets has been named the NHL’s best defenseman, winning the Norris Trophy for the first time in his career, the league announced Tuesday.

Werenski finished second among defensemen with 81 points, tallying 22 goals and 59 assists this season. At 28 years old, he secured first place on 113 ballots in voting conducted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

The runner-up was Colorado’s Cale Makar, followed by Buffalo’s Rasmus Dahlin in third and Edmonton’s Evan Bouchard in fourth. This prestigious honor marks a significant milestone in Werenski’s NHL journey.
