Conversely, residents in San Francisco, one of the wealthiest U.S. cities, benefit from lower ticket prices due to weaker demand.<\/p>\n
According to data from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and TicketData, residents in Guadalajara might spend 25.1% of their after-tax income for an average ticket priced at $1,139, while in San Francisco, tickets average $292, costing just 0.4% of after-tax income.<\/p>\n
In Toronto, the average ticket price is $551, which is about 1.9% of the average provincial income, making it the fourth least affordable city on the list. Vancouver fares slightly better, with tickets averaging $399 and costing 1.3% of local incomes.<\/p>\n
Ticket prices for the final match have surged dramatically compared to previous tournaments. Category 4 seats in New Jersey, the most affordable option for the final, were initially priced at $2,030 after December\u2019s draw\u2014nearly nine times the cost of similar seats in 2022, even when adjusted for inflation. FIFA has since increased prices further.<\/p>\n

In Toronto, secondary market tickets for matches like Senegal vs. Iraq cost several hundred dollars, while seeing Team Canada play Bosnia-Herzegovina can top $1,000. In Vancouver, the cheapest resale tickets are for the New Zealand vs. Egypt match, whereas high-stakes games on July 7 exceed $1,300.<\/p>\n
Ticket prices for various teams also differ significantly, with Mexico averaging $1,815 per ticket, Brazil $1,236, and Canada $586. Other teams like New Zealand and Iran have some of the lowest average ticket prices.<\/p>\n
These high prices are projected to generate around $15 billion US for FIFA during the World Cup cycle. The tournament kicks off on June 11 with Mexico facing South Africa in Mexico City.<\/p>\n
Locals in host cities have expressed frustration about the affordability of attending matches.
