Canada remains undefeated at the Hockey World Championship after a dominant 5-1 victory over Slovakia on Sunday in Switzerland.
The Canadians exploded for four third-period goals, with Macklin Celebrini capping the surge just 9:21 into the final frame. Celebrini notched a goal and an assist, joining Ryan O’Reilly, John Tavares, and Gabriel Vilardi—all of whom also recorded a goal and an assist in the third period.
Dylan Cozens opened the scoring in the first period, setting the tone for Canada’s sixth straight win in the tournament. Kristian Pospisil scored Slovakia’s lone goal in the second period.
Canada leads Pool B and will face Czechia in their final preliminary game on Tuesday before the quarterfinals start Thursday. The medal games are scheduled for next Sunday.
